How much is the referral fee?

It varies by firm and service. Some partners pay a fixed amount per client and some pay a share of their fee. If you want to know the arrangement for a specific introduction, ask us before you agree to it and we will tell you.

Will you share my details without asking?

No. We only share your details with a partner after you have explicitly agreed to that specific introduction. Our privacy policy explains what is shared and how you can withdraw consent.

Can a firm pay to be recommended in your guides?

No. Our guides do not recommend named firms, and no firm can pay to be featured, ranked or mentioned. We only introduce firms when you ask for an introduction.

What if I am unhappy with a firm you introduced?

Tell us through the contact page. Your contract is with the firm, so raise the issue with them too, but we take every complaint seriously and remove firms that do not meet our standards.

Do I have to use a professional you introduce?

No. You are free to use any professional you like, and our guides are written to be useful whether or not you ever use our introduction service.

The Paphos Advisor referral disclosure in plain English

Paphos Advisor is paid through referral fees. When you ask us to introduce you to a lawyer, tax adviser, accountant, estate agent, insurance broker or other professional, and you then become their client, that firm may pay us a fee for the introduction. Our about Paphos Advisor page explains who runs the site and why it exists.

That is the whole business model. We do not charge you for guides, tools, the relocation plan or introductions. We do not sell advertising space in our guides, and we do not charge firms to be listed, ranked or mentioned.

We are telling you this up front because it matters. A site that earns from introductions has a reason to push you towards a professional. The rules below are how we make sure that reason never beats your interests.

What this means for you

You pay the same. A referral fee comes out of the partner’s side. It is not added to your bill, and partners agree not to charge referred clients more than they would charge anyone else.
You are told first. Before we pass your details on, we tell you who the firm is, what they will help with and that a referral fee may be paid. Ask us how the fee is calculated and we will tell you.
You choose. Each introduction needs your explicit consent. You can say no, ask for a different firm or use a professional you find yourself. We will still answer your questions.
The advice is theirs. Your contract is with the partner. They quote their own fees in writing and are responsible for their advice. Paphos Advisor does not give legal or tax advice, as our website terms of use make clear.

How we keep guides independent

Our guides explain the rules, the costs and the type of professional you need. They do not recommend named firms. Facts are checked against government and professional sources under our editorial policy, and the same standards apply whether or not we have partners in a field.

If a common mistake is paying for something you do not need, we say so. For example, our guides point out where you can handle a step yourself and where a professional is worth paying for. A referral relationship has never changed a fact, fee or recommendation on this site, and it never will.

How we vet partner firms

A firm has to meet every one of these criteria before we introduce anyone to it. Firms cannot buy their way past them.

1 Before a firm is accepted

Licensed or registered for the work it does in CyprusFor example, lawyers registered with the Cyprus Bar Association, auditors and accountants who are members of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Cyprus (ICPAC), and estate agents registered with the Cyprus Real Estate Agents Registration Council.
Holds professional indemnity insurance where its profession requires it
Has real experience with UK clients and the UK side of a moveTax advisers must understand the UK Statutory Residence Test and split-year treatment, not just Cyprus rules.
Works in fluent English and replies within a reasonable time
Quotes fees in writing before starting work
Agrees not to charge referred clients more than other clients

2 After a firm is accepted

We ask clients we introduced for feedback
We act on complaints and remove firms that fall short, whatever fee they pay

Questions about referral fees

No. Introductions are free to you. If a referral fee is paid, the partner firm pays it, and it does not increase what you are charged.
