Since Brexit, a British passport needs a residence permit to live in Cyprus. I moved my family to Paphos in 2025. This site covers the residence permit, the UK and Cyprus tax, and daily life in Paphos, in the order you need them.

Paphos district runs from the harbour town to hill villages 600 m up. Kato Paphos and Universal are walkable and close to the sea. Chloraka (3 km north) and Konia (3 km east) are popular with families. Peyia, also spelled Pegeia, sits about 14 km north-west near Coral Bay and has a large British community. Yes. UK passport holders are now third-country nationals, so you need a residence permit rather than the EU yellow slip. The main routes are a visitor permit if you live on income from abroad, Category F, the digital nomad visa, a job-based permit or permanent residency by investment from €300,000.
Not on most income once you are no longer UK resident under the Statutory Residence Test. The UK still taxes UK-source income such as UK rent, and UK government service pensions stay taxable in the UK under the treaty. Inheritance tax can follow you for 3 to 10 years. See UK to Cyprus tax planning.
Most couples spend about €4,500 to €14,000 on the move itself. That covers removals (£1,200 to £6,500 in comparison-site quotes), a rental deposit and first month's rent, health insurance, permit fees of €140 per person on the visitor route, and apostilles at £35 to £45 per document. Buying a home or shipping a car costs extra.
For many UK movers, yes. Paphos is usually cheaper than Limassol, has a large British community, an international airport and English-speaking schools. The trade-offs are summer heat, a car-dependent lifestyle outside the centre, and slow bureaucracy. Our Paphos area guides are honest about both.
