Cyprus 183-Day Rule: How the Tax Residency Day Count Really Works

Under the Cyprus 183-day rule you are tax resident for a calendar year if you spend more than 183 days in Cyprus in total, which means at least 184 days. There are no other conditions: no home, job or company needed. Miss it and the only other route is the 60-day rule.

Keep boarding passes, e-tickets and passport stamps. The Tax Department can ask for them, and they list the same evidence on their residency forms.

Track your 183 days

Enter your trips. The counter applies the Cyprus arrival and departure rules and shows how many more days you need.

You can ask the Tax Department for a tax residency certificate once you're resident. UK pension providers and banks often want it before they stop deducting UK tax. The tax residency hub has the full rates table.
